Russian poultry production increased by a substantial 14,9% from 2008 to 2.37 million tonnes in 2009, and accounted for approximately 72% of total Russian meat production.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said that Russia should continue to open new livestock farms. Data from Russia's Federal Customs Service shows a substantial 19.8% year-on-year decline to US$145M in Russian poultry imports in December.
